skeletal pavilion

Year October 2019

Program Pavilion

Location Knoxville, Tennessee

Studio Brian Ambroziak

Initially thought of as a shipping container on a riverside, the Skeletal Pavilion performs as a space that unites the hustle and bustle of the highway with the calmness of the river. It is a fully accessible structure that allows the passerby to enjoy the shade, read a book, or take a dip in the river.

Where Alcoa Highway meets the Neyland Greenway, a pathway is lined with angles that match up with the Horologium constellation, one that is linked to clocks, time-pieces, and sundials. The metaphoric take on the pathway's design furthers its purpose of slowing down time and being one with nature.
